It’s that time of year again—subject choice season! A period filled with excitement, a little bit of anxiety, and the immense opportunity to help our pupils discover pathways that genuinely bring out the best in them.
While we, as RMPS teachers know the academic rigour of the subject, pupils sometimes struggle to see how RMPS translates into a career or their future. To help bridge that gap, I’ve linked some resources that might help.
1. The “What’s Your RMPS Style?” Quiz
We know RMPS is so much more than learning about religion. But, sometimes we need a new way of showing the pupils that what we do is valueable. This interactive quiz helps pupils identify their natural strengths, categorizing them into profiles like The Debater, The Storyteller, The Peacemaker, or The Investigator.
The quiz will give pupils a ‘Superhero’ style character and some suggested jobs it could lead to. You can find the quiz and the complimentary posters here.

Tick their Quiz Profile and read their unique description.
Rate the 12 Meta-skills based on what they want for their own future.
Explore Work Environments (Do they want to work outside? Abroad? In a team?).
Share their Voice: A space for them to tell us what they love about RMPS and what they would change.
It also allows you to have course choice conversations in a structured manner.
2. Meet the Professionals: Real-Life Inspiration
One of the most powerful things we can show pupils is that people in the “real world” use RMPS every single day. There are some profiles: “Where Can RMPS Take You?” From NHS Health Advisors and Primary Teachers to Church of Scotland professionals and Sociology students, these real stories show that RMPS is a gateway to diverse fields like healthcare, education, law, and social justice. This is something which I will try to add to over time.
3. The Big Picture: The 12 Meta-Skills Poster
To make the link between RMPS and the world of work even stronger, I’ve designed the RMPS Meta-Journey Poster. It maps the quiz profiles directly to the 12 SDS Meta-skills. It’s the perfect visual for your classroom wall to show that RMPS can develop so many skills.
