NEW Resource – Ethics in Sport – Level 3 and 4 RME

Picture the scene. The timetable has just changed you are trying to think about what you can do that is meaningful between now and the summer holidays that engages the pupils. But you also know there will be disruptions like trips, sports days and assemblies. With the 2026 World Cup kicking off and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games just around the corner, there is a literal “Summer of Sport” happening right outside your window. And so let’s not let PE have all the fun, let’s bring the Sport into the RMPS classroom and make it relevant to our pupils.

Making RME Relevant

Every single episode of What Even is RME? has talked about the importance of making RMPS relevant. It helps with engagement, behaviour and the subjects standing. We need to show its more than preconceived ideas of what it used to be. Sport is an excellent rout into big ethical conversations!

What’s inside the unit?

I wanted to create something that felt like a “pick-and-mix” for teachers. Every lesson is an independent module, so you can jump straight to what your class is most interested in. You can pick and choose what elements you want to dive into or skip over. We cover:

  • The Big Debates: From whether sport has actually replaced religion in 21st-century society to the ethics of “winning at any cost.”
  • Real-World Controversies: We talk about fake activism, human rights issues, performative stands against issues, transgender athletes, inclusion and environment.

I know how precious planning time is during the timetable change. That’s why I’ve done the heavy lifting for you. Every lesson in this 10-part bundle includes:

  1. A 2026 Case Study: Freshly researched news articles that feel relevant today.
  2. Tiered Comprehension: Questions that challenge every learner in your room.
  3. The Big Blether: Five versatile discussion prompts to get the whole class talking.
  4. Pupil Choice: Every lesson includes pupil choice tasks that may take a few lessons to complete.
